Gallery Statement: This series of photographs by Virginia artist James Crable springs from a continuing interest in human content and movement. Doorways, walls, sidewalks and stairways create a theatrical framework in which is focus on passersby. Visual rhythms offset the randomness of human presence and emphasize the boundaries between private and public realms. Designed to be viewed first as an overall pattern, the careful eye eventually picks out differences amidst uniformity, diversity amidst repetition.
