Awards & Honors

2016

The Beginning of this year I have spent most of my time getting more than 100 photographic images. Basically, the largest works were certainly more than the smaller ones. JMU had decided placing all my images in the huge Duke Gallery of Fine Art for two months instead of one month.

Gallery Statement: This series of photographs by Virginia artist James Crable springs from a continuing interest in human content and movement. Doorways, walls, sidewalks and stairways create a theatrical framework in which is focus on passersby. Visual rhythms offset the randomness of human presence and emphasize the boundaries between private and public realms. Designed to be viewed first as an overall pattern, the careful eye eventually picks out differences amidst uniformity, diversity amidst repetition.
